Day 1 Depart USA for San José, Costa Rica. Upon arrival, you will be met by a Passport Costa Rica Tours Representative and transferred to your hotel. After checking in you will have the balance of the day to begin exploring. Overnight in San José.
Day 2 B, L Today you will tour a coffee plantation with a colorful cast of characters that entertains you with the history of coffee and take the ride-of-a-lifetime through primary and secondary rainforests on the Aerial Tram ride. Your tram car takes you high into the rainforest canopy giving you a bird’s eye view of all the fascinating plant and animal life. Overnight in San José.
Day 3 B Today in San José, you might want to try one of our optional excursions, such as a day of ocean adventure aboard the Calypso Cruise or make the trip to the majestic Poás Volcano. Overnight in San José.
Day 4 B, D This morning, travel to the Northern Plains region, home of the imposing Arenal Volcano, one of the most active volcanos in the world. Bask in the therapeutic hot springs of Tabacón surrounded by a lush tropical Eden. Enjoy dinner while viewing the mighty Arenal, as she rumbles and puts on a fireworks display of brilliant colors against the night sky which will amaze and delight you. Overnight Arenal Region
Day 5 B

Today you have a choice of of optional activities. Birders and naturalists will migrate to Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge near the Nicaraguan border. Or, you may opt for a horseback riding adventure into the forest to the beautiful waterfalls of Río Fortuna. Overnight Arenal Region.

Day 6 B In a delightful change of pace today, you leave the volcano for the Monteverde Cloud Forest, where the scenery changes to cool and moist, and the trees are covered in the lushness of beautiful orchids and bromeliads. Throughout this wonderland of emerald green foliage, you’ll find an amazing array of colorful butterflies and frogs along with rare highland birds including the elusive Resplendent Quetzal. Overnight in Monteverde.
Day 7 Today you are in for an experience unique to Costa Rica, the exciting Sky Walk Tour! This adventure, unlike anything you’ve ever experienced, is truly like a “Walk in the Clouds” as you travel through the Monteverde Cloud Forest on a series of paths, suspension bridges, and platforms, 130 feet above the forest floor. Overnight in Monteverde.
Day 8 Today you will be transferred to Guanacaste, known for its beautiful beaches and diverse watersports — a sun lover’s paradise. After you arrive and settle into your hotel, you might try an optional excursion such as horseback riding with a genuine Guanacastean Cowboy, or the evening Turtle Nesting Tour (seasonal) to watch these amazing creatures, some over 6 feet in length, arrive to nest in their natural setting. Overnight in Guanacaste.
Day 9 B, L This morning you have a choice of two exciting tours. Rincón de la Vieja National Park is an area of austere beauty with high volcanic thermal activity. You can hike or travel by horseback to the waterfalls, hot springs, mud baths and cool jungle swimming holes. Or, take the Tempisque River Cruise in Palo Verde National Park, a bird watchers paradise, where crocodiles bask in the sun and monkeys sprint through the branches above. Overnight in Guanacaste.
Day 10 B Today is a day of leisure, do as you like. You may choose a visit to folkloric Guaitíl, a quaint village where indigenous Chorotega Indians make pottery using the same techniques as their Pre-Columbian ancestors. Or, the bravest of the bunch might try the famous Costa Rican Canopy Tour — you’ll tell stories of this adventure for years to come! Overnight in Guanacaste.
Day 11 B This morning you will transfer back to Liberia for your flight home. We’re sure you packed many, many memories to take home with you from the rich and colorful nation of Costa Rica!
